Churchill 3 in Tunisia - camo query

Hi
I hope to do the sandy yellow mud / paint camo on the AFV kit. Anyone any more pics of the scheme? I think I have two. So does the camo pattern go over the top of the base 'green' or just on the sides? Or may attempt the splodgy pattern on the sides. Some of that splodgy pattern appears on the inside hull / drivers area too.

Best colour for the base green?

Cheers
Andrew

Churchills in Tunisia

August 27 2011, 11:01 AM

These Churchills might be either Khaki Green 3 or SCC2 brown basic colour. The colour of the lighter stripes/patches is debatable. The timescale does fit with the first introduction of Light Mud in that country and lack of a specific instruction of application may have resulted in the effect seen on photographs. This happened with some Shermans of 23 A.B. Alternatively the material may just have been the pinkish brown mud of the local terrain (been there and seen it) applied simply to lighten the tank. The lighter areas have been applied to the turret sides and side, front and rear hull only, I have no clear pictures of other areas although it may well have been splatted on the top of the turret and track-guards too.
