I'm kind of confused by the coming and going of the less obvious production features of Sherman turrets. I've got a few books but they are not much help; the "Complete" Guide to the Sherman isn't complete, for example. I was hoping I could pick the collective brains of the Missing Lynx membership.

Were both high bustle and low bustle turrets manufactured without pistol ports?

Ditto the loader's hatch; did this feature overlap both high and low bustle turrets?

Finally, the add-on armor to the right turret cheek, the same questions, and was the replacement with thickened integral armor instead of applique armor on any low bustle turrets?

Thanks in advance.

Yours,
James D. Gray

A lot of the latest knowledge hasn't been put into books yet.

For an easy overview of 75mm turrt details, see this great aid by Dan Fong:

E13-13 was a flamethrower version.

Hmmm. Still don't get the pages you've linked to....

January 23 2012, 10:00 AM

Just run the search again and those didn't feature in the first ten pages. This may be Google search results being 'tailored' to the individual. I think I need to have a look into this.

Thanks for the help I'd never ever heard of this before.

That's probably because Mr Owsley queried "E13-13+sherman+flame+tank" because he already knew what he was looking for. wink.gif

Ah yes, that would explain a bit!!

My teenage techie has just finished dealing with it. Apparently old searches modify what is displayed by Google for each user. Something has been cleared or reset and things have definately improved.

Apparently my system is an antique and needs some serious debugging. Fair deal for fixing her guitar happy.gif
