Nice build!

February 11 2012, 9:19 AM

Nice write-up too! I just received my M-24 and have only looked at the various sprues of tiny parts. Almost intimidating.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the spare ammo cans provided on the "Ge" sprue do not resemble WWII ammo cans, but look like post-war ammo cans to me. The .50 cal cans on the "G" sprue look like WWII cans though. Also, the five gallon cans on the "Gb" sprue are all water cans, not fuel cans--interesting.

I can only surmise that we will eventually see at least one post-war version of the M-24.

I sent in the article this week to Military Modelling. I think it is scheduled for their annual "Armour Special" but I don't know the precise date.

I 'v been looking forward to this one

February 11 2012, 11:44 AM

As usual Steve you did a great job, painting is fantastic. But i think i'll pass on this kit for the moment, I'v been building the Bronco 'Diana' halftrack and it suffers from the same sort of over engineering as you describe on the Chaffee. Wobbly wheel locations and miniscule parts seem to be a Bronco trademark.
I hate to knock them as the kits are fantastic when you get them built, just not fun to build.
Regard's, Dave.

February 12 2012, 3:49 AM

Steven; - What happened to the wrong angle on the turret roof? Did You change it or has Bronco already retooled it?

Best Regards
Michael D

Nothing

February 12 2012, 7:42 AM

As I said in the original discussion on this issue on this discussion group, I didn't bother with it as it would be far too much work for such a minor discrepency.

Aftermarket

February 12 2012, 1:19 PM

They're brass after-market. I'm not sure what brand, as I've bought several over the years and throw them together in a packet.
