If you mean the large box on the bottom, it is a standard stowage box fitted on all Stags. If you mean the shallower box above it (assuming it is a box, it could be a baulk of wood) then it's a stowage box the crew added. Exactly what is in it is up to the crew. Boxes such as this or steel frames were almost universally added by crews in the 12th Manitoba Dragoons in NW Europe. They almost never fitted the extra tanks and some of their vehicles carried truely staggering amounts of additonal stowage on any available spot.

Jeep rear seat backrest

IIRC the "box" or "plank" is not these, but a Jeep rear seat back rest. In a good reproduction of the pic, the shape and the two supports of the backrest can be clearly seen. I was planning to sport that in my kit.

I went mad last night trying to locate that pic in my references but to no avail. I know I have it, and remember even the text under it that made reference to the Jeep seat, but can't locate it now. Have to dig deeper!
