It's clearly not a blemish on the picture.
I can see the mark near the rear being spillage, but what reason would they have to pour gasoline or oil near the front of the tank?
It also looks like the lighter colour is on the side of the turret near the track/stowage - I don't think that's dust (the hull front is covered in dust, but if it was dust on the turret, it would be on the mantlet and beside it as well - that area looks darker).

There is also photo of SFY tank "Sfax" (published in Peter Heath's MilMod article about SFY) with similar camo patches on hull side (I believe, that both this photo of Sfax and this Pathe film were filmed at the same time, may be this Pathe still also depicts Sfax).
