I'm building a Revell Cromwell kit which has the option of a "Prong" hedgerow cutting device. Do any of you clued up folk know which, if any, Normandy Cromwell units had this device fitted? I have a pretty go reference library but cannot find one pic of this equipment in theatre except on some Shermans.
was photographed in Normandy. Apart from a short film sequence and some stills of the trials vehicle at Chertsey nothing else exists. The order for the prongs was not fulfilled until the tanks were well out of France so you can understand why they never saw service.
It is a pity that Airfix also decided to include this option as I think it spoils a good model. Build forums are swamped with well built examples of this single (in real life) vehicle complete with wading trunk. Such a waste of effort.

Thanks Michael. That has confirmed my suspicions. There are so many other bolt on goodies pertaining to the Cromwell/Centaur that they could have gone for which are hard to scratch build. Only Dan Taylor seems to have addressed any of them. 95 mm gun, turret side bins, split exhaust cowl, modified engine decks & crew hatches etc. But they chose a Prong!
