Bought two boxes of HVSS T80 Sherman track... opened them up today and guess what... they are Pershing tracks inside. How hard is it to put the right product in the box?

They're a nightmare to assemble anyway...

... Sherman HVSS or Pershing.

For the T80, best option is Dragon's new DS Tracks with separate plastic central guides. That or Tasca's.

Cheers,

Christophe

Cross-kitting is possible

August 1 2012, 12:49 PM

Have to agree with Christophe, they are a nightmare though they look superb if one ever finishes them. I've only done it once, and have an M47 Patton set partially done. For the Pershing/Patton series, it does look like the AFV Club guide horns could be trimmed to fit the DS track for an easier way home. And Dragon's guides for the HVSS tracks ought to work fine on Tasca's tracks, too, since the Dragon guides are better detailed.

true but the Dragon ones are unavailable

Plus they are too short for the M4A4

And Tascas are not easily obtainable either. I bought two boxes of the AFV links from Sprue Bros but they were mis boxed.

The Orange Box

August 2 2012, 12:40 AM

Get one of the orange box M50 there is enough DS track for an A4 hull. In my mind the extra coast far outweighs. The hateful mess the AFV links are anyway. yes they look good but so mush needless work. Oh yes and mine split a year or so latter because I put the proper tension on them. Nasty skinny, fragile end pins.

I wonder if David hasn't got the Orange Box already?

Given his recent constructive comments post.

I took those tracks to use on Tamiya's M51

I have the Orange box kit... At one time Dragon or Cyberhobby sold the track separately but they don't seem to be available now.

Slightly long

August 5 2012, 10:20 PM

david- If you do get a set of the Dragon T-80 DS tracks, note they are a little too long. I used a set on my M51 from 3 years ago and found out that i was a link or two too long. The adjustable idler arm was almost not enough. Lesson learned.
Good luck

Moot now

August 7 2012, 3:04 PM

Since the boxes of AFV track I had bought for the Dragon kit are defective I went ahead and hacked up the DS tracks to use them on the M50. It's not hard to lengthen or shorten them. They are "okay" but I think the Tamiya chevron detail is better.
