Response to HobbyBoss HET pic
Unlike the WOLF, where the copyright is in flux due to the break-up and dissemination of the parent company (a lame excuse at best), the M1070 is a product of OSHKOSH Trucking Company. I seriously doubt that HobbyBoss has licensed this model. I also wonder just how "inspired" they were by the Accurate Armour kit. AA went to great lengths to license THEIR product and it was produced in cooperation with OSHKOSH.
Accurate Armour, a well-liked company in our community, did the "right thing" and now their specific product has zero viability.
What this amounts to is thief of intellectual property, plain and simple. The citizens of the U.S. and the UK have paid for this vehicle with their tax dollars and now a Chinese company will profit from that investment without the permission of the parent company.
The really sad part about this is that it is relatively simple to get permission for an endeavor such as this. Generally, all the company requires is simple liability insurance, in case some kid decides to eat the model. Without it, OSHKOSH is now needlessly exposed to this liability.
Yes, I'm sure OSHKOSH can afford it. But using that logic one could just waltz into any profitable department store and walk off with goods. They can afford it, after all.
Am I grasping at straws here? Where does this end? Does anyone feel compelled to skip this kit?
