The use of colored flags on modern MBT's....(I have a question)

Recently I watched a couple different videos on YouTube in which I saw Japanese & South Korean MBT's sporting red, green, and on one occasion even a yellow flag - the tanks I saw them on were the Japanese Type 90 and the South Korean's relatively new XK-2 Black Panther. Now in the various videos I watched the tanks didn't always have all 3 flags up...sometimes they just had a red flag up and other times just a green flag and then again sometimes they had both a red & green flag up. Based on what I can discern the flags are mounted between the commanders cupola and the other hatch (not sure what's it called). ANYWAY...I was just curious if anyone could tell me what the different flags mean and besides Japan & South Korea are there any other countries who use "tank flags" during training...or maybe even in real combat for that matter.
