The Tamiya tubes looked small to me, they measured in at about 6.5 mm, the DML ones were a shade under 9mm, so I split the difference and cut them at 7.5mm.
Then I whipped out my old Sheperd Paine book that had the really old 1/70th scale drawings by Steve Zaloga, Shep said that if you doubled the size on those drawings that they came out to 1/35th scale, I measured them there, but it was hard to get a good solid number because the launchers are at an angle in space so they are not meant to be measured. Anyway, they measured about 7.2mm.
Hopefully someone else will come forward with the exact numbers as I definitely need to know for future builds. Until I hear otherwise, I will continue to use the 7.5mm as I felt they passed the eyeball test. I will say this though, 1/8" pipe is just a hair too big, I wonder if the metric pipes available come closer to the actual circumference.
