Strange composite....

January 5 2012, 12:00 PM

That is a strange version. It looks like an M108 that has had the barrel from an M109A2 stuck on it. The M108 features include the split rear door, uncovered pantel, and square exhaust outlet.

Odd M-109

January 5 2012, 1:35 PM

Hi Folks!

That is one of two artillery vehicles that came down from White Sands Missle Range.

The other one is inside the new 1st Armored Division Museum.

Both vehicles are V-mods based on M-108s. That gun tube is sheet metal.

Amazing what can come from the can point

January 5 2012, 9:54 PM

I would agree with Gino, it is an M108 lower hull the turret also look like a modified M108 turret. As for Rob's comment, anything is possible. As a refit I can see an old M108 lower hull getting a new engine and turret and presto....an M109A5

It is not the first nor the last time I have seen dead systems come back to life!!

Rounds Complete!!
