Has the photo been coloured?

July 15 2012, 3:11 PM

Hi Andreas

I'm not sure - but the photo looks to me that it's been heavily colour treated. The sand colour behind is exactly the same shade as the vehicles - almost no variation in it at all.

Interesting picture though. The PTS-M being used as an artillery carrier would make a great project. Wish there was one available in 1/35.

Cheers
Owen

it's a picture from a magazine

l translated the text and it is mentioned in it that the images were sourced from a magazine.for sure, quality was lost after scanning the images.what made me wonder, was the reflection of the sky on the open windshield on the second image, that has the same colour (to my eyes) as the supposely blue colour of the camo.l also have in mind the blue colour on english matildas on desert during ww2

Blue on Matildas is a post-war misinterpretation...

July 15 2012, 5:41 PM

And has been done away with since, although some museums and manufacturers did not get the word yet.

That photo suffers from a mixture of the limitations of the film and the camera used as well as the printing processes of the day, the bluish fields are most probably grey, that colour has been used on other Egyptian equipment as well. FYI, on my monitor the blue cast is pretty indistinct, so your settings come into play as well.

Cheers,

Jens O.
