Hello Rob,
I don´t think the cover fell off that easily. On early StuGs and on Panzer IIIs they´re always(?) present. They weren´t (ever?) installed on late StuG IIIs, so the Revell StuG III, representing a "late" vehicle, as well as the Revell "late" Hummel, should have the "late" drive sprocket without the cover. The Dragon StuG III G is an "early" model, so for the time being, if you want to make a "late" one Revell is the only choice in plastic. I´m sure Dragon will release a "late" G sooner or later. Wasn´t the StuH supposed to be a "late" model?
/Peter
The return rollers are also wrong on the Revell StuG. They should be the all steel version. Revell took the easy way out and used the running gear from their Panzer III M.
