Ferhmann Frustrations!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, all,

Normally I build 1/35 scale armor. However, I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Gruppe Ferhmann Tiger from DML. The Dragon Website ad indicated that the sprocket and idler were nicely detailed. The solid sprocket wheel, with plastic filling between the spokes, really bothered me on the previous Tiger releases. I couldn't wait for this one to be released, based on the pre-release publicity. Well, tonight I spent 16 bucks...a third of a gas fill-up...and bought the first issue that the local shop had. I opened the box, and to my dismay the kit features all of the old wheel parts from the steel-wheeled late Tiger kit...including the sprocket with the plastic between the spokes! I can not understand why DML puts details like photo-etched brass screens, pre-formed brass muffler guards and twisted wire tow cables in a kit....and then gives us the lousy detail of the solid sprockets! I feel deceived too, given the advertising. They do not say "new tooling," but the focus on the spocket and idler wheels on the box art and in the ad suggests that the kit wheels have better detail. You would have to do a lot to make this kit an acceptable display model. It does feature some nice details such as the PE and the special track stowage for tanks with Gruppe Fehrmann, but the spockets really ruin it!

Just my opinion.
