UM Sherman

Here is my UM Sherman M4 in progress. I enjoy building this. [linked image]
Other than the old ESCI/Italeri M4A1, UM is the only company that produced hard plastic tracks! The model itself is also much better than the old ESCI.Overall dimension and shape are excellent.

Initially I thought the tracks are too narrow compare to other brands. But it is actually T54E1 steel chevron. Here is the resource:

The strip of bolts is PE, a feature I don't really like. Also, there is a gap I need to fill with a strip of plastic. Note UM does not differentiate the round nose and the late sharp nose one piece transmission cover.

UM also does not differentiate low or high bustle turrets. The shape of the bustle is also slightly incorrect. I corrected it with plastic shavings and glue.
Also, UM Shermans usually come with many spare parts. This model is supposed to be a M4A2 with M1 dozer blade. Since I have not seen an US M4A2, I have decided to change it to a M4 by changing the engine deck rear hull and the tail plate.

Unfortunately, the M4A3 engine deck is incorrect, not an early type as someone posted. It is too narrow. Also, watch out for the UM 76mm gun (T23) turret. The shape is NOT good and the mantlet is too wide.
