I'll extend the chat little further:
3. MiniArt announced a railway station in 1/72 for this year. See here:
Go to "catalogue -> 1/72 historical miniatures" and scroll down. I'm sure under the ancient warriors you'll find many interesting things for your layout under costruction. BTW, I'm a regular reader of the "Model Railroader" magazine and some other magazines for railroad modellers (many useful tips there, for diorama builders in particular) and must warn you that layouts, in any form, shape and size, are never finished! So take it easy and wait patiently for that MiniArt railroad station. If you're in a hurry than purchase Italeri RR station, it is also in 1/72. I mean this one:
However, I think it is overpriced. I guess for the same money you can have no less than 2 MiniArt stations, if not even more. So better wait
4. You're on the wrong path with those Trumpeter track sets. They aren't bad in general but the rail pieces are too short and this is everything but convincing. That's why I changed them with longer pieces, retrieved from HO tracks. And yes, they are metal now. If you'll decide to give it a try too, note Atlas and Bachman rails fits perfectly in Trumpeter ties. More, they are tight fit and don't require cement.
You can always obtain second hand straigh HO track pieces from some hobby shop; indeed, they are used but no big deal, on some only the ties are damaged here and there and the rails are in general OK. And they are cheap (mine were 10c piece, from memory) so buy some and use them, I guess you wouldn't regret.
