PzII Ausf L "Luchs" (Early & Late Variants Included!)
December 2 2005, 5:40 PM
Na just kidding - It's gonna be a Hummel next for sure - They should follow it up with a Mobelwagen if they had half a grain of originality or common-sense!
Please do the Mobelwagen Revell - We promise we'll all buy it!
(Support welcome here!)
Revell don't have the habit of releasing two almost identical kits in a row. Mostly there is at least one year before a variant of a kit is released. The only exception I can think of are the Panzer IV kits that came out in the year of 2000 and 2001.
If they continue this path there will be no Hummel next year. But as I said the Famo with a spade would fit and more Humvees and a variant of the M60 as well.
I am a bit surprised that they didn't do anything more of the Leopard 1 chassie.
Björn B
A whole series of totally correct Shermans. And a Dragon Wagon, and an LVT-2, and an M4 High Speed Transport, and...Oh who am I kidding. If they do it probably will be marketed as 1/72 but in actuality only be 1/76. Oh well...back to scratch building...again...
Okay its gonna be the Wiesel, but they better put two or three in one box because they're tiny. There are plenty of variants so two in one box should be nice.
Does two new modern releases count the M1A2? How about a Challie II or a Centurion?
Realistically I'd say a M113A2G.
And for WW2 a Tiger I ausf E mid production, because we can never have enough Tiger models.
We have as much chance of seeing an M109 as Tamiya starting to do 1/72 armor.
I can see it now, it'll be two variants of the Wiesel each one kit in a box.
Now that I've said how unlikely it is for us to get an M109 watch that bee the one they release (Please)
For WWII a Jagdtiger maybe. They could only use the roadwheels from their Tiger II to do it right.
that they need to do a super-kit,like the M-109 series. They could put the M-108,M-109,A1,A2 and A4 in one box and the Paladin and Faasv could be put out separately.Come on,Revell;do I have to do all of your thinking???????????Dan
GA/USA
PS,an M-107/110,an M-113 and Man truck series should follow.Fennek and Dingo were great releases, but you can't capitalize on them. That hurts profit, which hurts the company.
PSS,I think a Hummel ammo-transporter(with a nice set of ammo)should be in line somewhere..............Dan
M-108 was the first in line with a 105 m/m gun and used briefly in VN.When short-comings of 105 were realized,they mounted a 155 m/m gun;wa-la,the M-109...........Dan
In spite of nice suggestions I´ve been reading in threads like this since 2003, I´ve read things that really made it, like the Fennek, and releases that were rated as "no-no" (I clearly remember the Tiger II B "Porsche") and soon released. Anyway, overall seems that everybody is pretty close!
I´m not a specialist, but both the Wiesel and an M108 series to me seem logic.
Concerning WWII is hard to tell. A Jagdtiger, using only the wheelsfrom the Tiger II B, I mean a new lenghtened hull, would be fine.
I don´t believe either a Panzer II or a Comet, once they have the Matchbox ones.
On the other hand, a 250 would be welcome too.
Thinking slightly different, why not a 95mm Close Support, based on the Cromwell? I don´t know why this idea came, but I decided to share with you.
Now please part with us your guess, once the curiosity is almost killing me, specially about the WWII release!
be opposed to a nice Sturmtiger from Revell, but I would rather see something modern.A Sturmtiger does make a lot of sense, though.Don't think we have a lot of say in this, but it is fun dreaming...........Dan
Hello Folks,
Not wanting to rain on anyone's parade, I nonetheless have to ask: is the Demag certainly a small-scale new kit, or re-release of the old ESCI 1:35?
Best regards
Aris Kosionidis
Yahooo I got it wrong!!!!! And a Mobelwagen fix(for gaming)

A Demag?
Considering the Revell AG released the all-new Italeri kit at the same time as Italeri in 1/35th it would be a natural.
The T-72? What and steal Ace's thunder? It'll probably be for your Iraq war scenario with the M1A1/A2 and Bradley. Will 2007 see a T-55?
Quick and easy Mobelwagen: Eidei/Grip/Arii made a Modelwagen with 37mm gun. It was labeled as 1/76 but funny how well it fit on a Revell Germany suspension with no problem. They pop up on Ebay from time to time.
And with all the other Pzkpfw IV's that Dragon will do a Mobelwagen will come eventually.
While I'd agree that a 'nice' Sturmtiger would make a great addition to the Revell kit range we do already have a fair few albeit dodgy Sturmtiger options.
What we don't have, and have never had in 1/72 injection as fas as I am aware, is a Mobelwagen. These vehicles were at least as common as the Wirbelwind and make a far more interesting modelling or diorama subject in my opinion.
The steps required to scratch a Mobelwagen are way beyond my abilities, (As a cack-handed wargamer) although those with more talent than I have acheived it.
By contrast most of the existing Sturmtiger kits can be made to look perfectly acceptable with a bit of expense & effort. (Yes even by cack-handed wargamers!)
Living in hope of something truly new! (& a PzII Ausf L "Luchs")
I would have thought that my reasoning is fairly obvious given my previous statements.
So what we are getting is:
A little German 1/2 track (That is also plausibly on the horizon over at Italeri)
A big but obsolete Soviet tank (Modern - Out of my remit)
& A huge truck (Modern - Out of my remit)
BTW my obsession is the injection-moulded 1/72 "Luchs" - The mobelwagen is just a pet cause!
All the best - Off to look at resin PzIV conversions now.
(Only slightly chastised!)
I recall that Modeltrans makes a reasonably good conversion in 1/72 scale. There are probably other retailers, but Milan offers it on the shop section of Tracks-n-troops.com.
I beleive that it's a light yellow colored resin kit. I've got one built at home. It's not a bad build, but the side walls can be a bit tricky, as they can come somewhat warped. The gun tubes may also need straightening, as I recall that they too were resin. Of course, there are also metal after-market alternatives for the tubes, if you want to make this conversion an even more expensive endeavor.
Fine Print: I have no business interest in the new incarnation of Tracks-n-Troops and have not yet ordered from it. However, I plan to pour loads of money into it as soon as I get back to the real world.
I've followed up the suggestions about the Modeltrans kit and I am thinking seriously about getting one(+). However a point well made elsewhere is that Dragon are sure to realease one soon (with horrid rubber bandy things alleged to represent tracks).
My main point regarding Revell was that their PzIV range are good quality & easy to build kits (Late PzIVJ exhaust instructions excepted) and it would seem to me to be in Revell's own interests to expand the range with 'new' kits. The Mobelwagen had not been done in 1/72 injection (AFAIK) and it represented an opportunity for them to take another 'step ahead' of their competitors.
Actually, thats the first WWII German orginal kit they have done (Nashorn would have been if Dragon did not jump in with one too)
Lets see if others (Italeri) release one now too!
I hope Tracks & Troops weren't going to do one!
Did you say its towed or SP?
I wonder if there second demag version will be with a pak 38
instead?
plenty of possiblies there i guess
Cheers Elliott
all of those releases are excellent, especially the T-72 and Tank-transporter.I hope they do well for Revell.I will definately do my part................Dan

Please excuse my poor German, but that is very interesting news.Lots of potential variants w/ interesting tows & SP gun mounts. And I may even have to ask them... for selling re-boxed multi sets (from the new kit) of track sprues for my ESCI 250 & Hasegawa 251/D's to replace unreallistic tracks that have a 4mm gap from the wheels.Actually I did not measure the gap, I'd be too embarrassed to do so, but I still have fun with my little models. In fact a Revell FAMO for a DAK recovery section-with one of the modified Afrika Korps Infantry figures from Revell(he had been drinking from a canteen before going under the "knife")...standing upright on the left front fender, and the smallest-kfz.10 bringing up a 5cm PAK 38 L/60 from ACE of Ukraine...well, it's going to work. and hopefully recover some panzer III/asuf.G from who knows where? Sorry for long post, and don't forget to ration your water, boys! Mark
