I would like to take this time to wish everyone a very merry holiday season! Can’t be better than this: see the family open gifts, get some kits for XMAS myself, and scoot downstairs to work on my project – an Afrika Korps Sig33 Bison II.
The model is scratchbuilt using the Alan Bison II in 1/35 as a basis for scaled down dimensions (thanks Bill Dingle for getting me this kit!), and some great plans/info(thank you Mr. Panzerman “George Weidmann”!). Been at it now for about 3 months on-and-off. For those unfamiliar with the Bison II, it is essentially a Sig33 gun mounted on a lengthened and widened Panzer II chassis. So far, I’ve got the chassis and engine compartment done along with the rear fighting compartment wall with racks for the rounds on the wall and floor (wiring will coem later). Notice that the transmission is run back to the engine on the right-side (the basis for the transmission is done in basswood). Still need to build the engire (the Bison II had a Bussing Nag engine, not a regular Panzer II engine). The layered floor is done to accommodate the rear portion of the gun’s carriage, which I cut to make it easier to place the gun into the fighting compartnment later. The only commercial kit parts used are the chassis sides and wheels taken from two ESCI Panzer II kits. I used the ACE Sig33 gun, but with extensive modifications to the carriage as this was modified to fit into the vehicle.
I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoy the work of others on this great discussion group!!! Will post more later as this project progresses.
Nice job. Scratch building is great fun, but takes determination to press on to the finish, and you sure have that determination!
Keep posting updates, as it looks as if it will be a neat piece of work !

Especially the gun. I guess you used the 1/35 model as a guide. I want to do a similar thing with the Stu33 III. Please post more pics as you progress. Thanks for sharing.
