Look good,but.......

July 13 2007, 8:36 PM

the M5/M9 halftracks need the flat type fenders to be accurate,(like on the Airfix 1/76 scale kit). I "have tried" to order order one each of the halftracks and too much other really good stuff from your website today. I hope that I get a reply from Modeltrans to my email inquiry about an order...........

"Too Expencive?" .......How?

July 15 2007, 1:23 AM

Make a master....,
make a mold......,
pour it it in resin.

This is a "fender", not the whole kit.
Simple, fast, Done.
Speaking from experience.

Fast Email Service!

July 15 2007, 9:30 AM

I sent an email to Modeltrans and asked for a PayPal price quote for some of the Modeltrans, MR and other manufacturer's kits which they sell. I received all necessary information back by email in less then 12 hours! I now look forward to my order. I have sucessfully purchased items previously this way from Modelltrans.

Ken...

July 15 2007, 9:34 AM

... I think that Pioter means that adding extra parts like fenders ( actualy all lover part of cabine with fenders ) would make it a bigger set wich would be more expencive. Here you have a small set, the cheaper series. And to be honest - making the Aca fender flat didn't taken to much... less then 10 minutes I think, and it look's OK. I know waht I talking about cause im building M9 by myself.
Also, if you started to talk about fenders, also upper part of side doors should be differen, while the one from M3 don't fit. I you wan't to build M5A1 you need to build the gun mount from scrath, because original one is A2 strandard, and it's oversized. Proboably we could find some other parts, while the whole transision ond some parts of suspension in IHC build H-T were different from the standart M2/M3 family.

But then will get an almost full conversion wich could be twice more expencive than Academy ( + the halftrack itself ).

Set of modeltrans need some work to build a nice M5/M9, but if you are able to "fight" with resin you'll be able to add/change all those details. So where is the problem?

Cheers
Jakub

I think.......

July 15 2007, 9:38 AM

I think that he means doing the flat fenders as if attached to an entire front end hood piece. I don't think that they need to be insulted by suggesting that they are referring to just the fender alone, especially after seeing their other lovely and intricate resin castings. Modelltrans is one of the best resin kit producers in the Braille Scale field and I have no connection to them, except through PayPal.
