New Academy Dragon Wagon

Here are some pictures of the new Academy Dragon Wagon being made as a tank retriever (without trailer):

Still some parts to add to the cab, .50 cal tripod, .50 cal HMG, engine doors, rear lights, etc. I also need to make rear view mirrors as they did not come with the kit.

Some work to do on the A Frame, connection points for the support rods to be added to the frame and chassis.

Lots of detailing to do inside the cab.

I'm not one to super detail the chassis as most of it won't be seen.

The spare wheel isn't shown, neither is the crane, both are nicely done.
AS I have mentioned in a previous post the kit is well engineered and goes together easily, I will post some more pictures when I get it together.
All comments welcome.
Paul.

I'll certainly do that James,

though I really put the pictures up to give you an idea of what the kit looked like partially assembled, there is a lot of work to do yet on each of the sub-assemblies.
Thanks for the comments.
Paul.

Question on the chain drive

August 9 2007, 7:17 PM

It looks like the chain is not very well depicted. This is a major feature of this vehicle I think that makes it unique although this type of drive was quite common on heavy trucks for a while. The links are quite heavy. There is an excellent reference in the Allied/Axis series.

Chain Drive

August 9 2007, 7:39 PM

You're right Mike, it's not particularly well depicted, it looks more like a belt than a chain. Since the chain drive comes seperately to the axles it might be possible to score it slightly with a sharp knife to represent the links better. Academy also omit the row of what I take to be oiling points near the drive.
Best regards,
Paul.
