It had been a zimmerited Ausf A, I'd have been suitably impressed.....As it is, this could easily be misinterpreted as an attempt to boost lagging sales.
The Dragon Panther Early . . . depends on the lower hull
May 15 2008, 1:05 PM
The Dragon Panthers (Early and Late G) were released with metal hull bottoms. They, in my opinion, suck. If this kit comes with a plastic lower hull it would be a marked improvement over the older kit. If it came with zimmerit and all the etras included in
seems to show Zimmerit, so my eternal optimism takes over...
Somehow the kit you refer to escaped my attention, even though it appears to have been released in 2006. Is that paint scheme on the box based on the real thing ?
Yeah this kit came out a couple of years ago. It is all plastic, has molded on zimmerit and comes with some very nice PE details like engine screens and spare track racks. It is a very nice kit with lots of details. I have one in the stash but it will be the next Panther I build. The paint-job on the box is a loose interpretation of some Panthers in Normandy in 1944. The real paint jobs wer enot as symetrical.
I don't have a Panther model yet, and this model becomes very relevant to me.
I'm also happy that this set is availble in 1:35 and now reduced, I hope this trend will continue, as there are some very nice sets in 1:35 that I'll be happy to see in braille.
Although I'd rather see them released on their own, it's better than not having Dragon release any figures at all, although not everyone seems to share that point of view...
Well at least this time they are doing tank crews.
I think every kit should come with some crew figures and as I've been trying to get the Panther with Zim unsuccessfully for quite some time now and I believe it comes with a plastic hull, I'm very interested.
GlenP (The Braille Scale Old Fart)
Johny Turk, he was ready, he'd primed himself well, he rained us with bullets and showered us with shell and in ten bloody minates he'd blown us to hell, almost blew us back home to Australia.
I have one of these panthers & it has the plastic hull & DS tracks which are much nicer than Revell's,I think this is the best 1/72 Panther in plastic,I could squeeze another one into the collection.
Like Andrew has said a late A with 'tile' zimmerit would have been nice!,
Or at the least get us different decals as the label looks abit miss- leading,I think the 3 decal option are for ...
"304" 12th SS PD in Beligum,April 44.(repainted to different style for France in June.)
19th PD Warsaw '44.
'HG' East Prussia '45.
I can't remember weather there is a LAH decal option so that maybe France?
(actually I think there is not, but there is a colour scheme for LAH seen in Paris but it has no markings anyway!)
Cheers Elliott

I'm really glad to see another excellent figure set but it's very diappointing at the same time that DML continues this marketing strategy - combining tanks not upto the today's standards(of course, DML itself set those standards) with state of the art figure set.
Almost certainly, we will have panzer crew with Tiger. Some will be coupled with Elefant/Ferdinand.
I fear DML would release Soviet tank riders PartI and PartII with T-34/85s; three figuresX2 each this time, but the T-34s are decent kit at least.
US tank crews with Sherman would be great. I have no objection when figures are coupled with great kits.
And when they feel they gathered enough money with old molds, they will present us a new tooled Tigers, King tigers, Panthers. First time tank alone, and second time with new figure set.
I really look forward to seeing DML bring out an injection molded US tank Crew, this would be second only to the delight I would experience if Preiser brought out the same thing. If Dragon have to mate them with a tank then I suggest the M4A3 76mm with the revised bogie arms.
