Hello gents,

Finished this one yesterday, let me show it to you.

The kit is from Extratech in 1/72 scale, a bit rare and it was offered by a friend. The figure came from Preiser's box nÂș72503 and the ammo plus boxes are in resin, from Attack Models.

Superb model

March 2 2010, 6:59 AM

Hi Francisco,

Thanks for sharing what is an impressive model and nicely presented. The inclusion of the Flak award on the base sets it off nicely, I presume it is a repo as an original would be quite valuable. When you see the size of the shell compared to a man you realise what powerful weapons they were.

All the bes,

Paul

The badge is from a Spanish company that used to make this kind of things. I forgot the name again after I pointed it on a paper this weekend, as I don't have the box here.

Some original ones:

Late war 128mm containers were made of steel and painted with RAL 7012 similar paint to prevent oxidation. Projectiles were painted in a yellow similar to RAL 1007.

Impressive

March 2 2010, 7:49 AM

Both the weapon and your kit, that is !
It really shows off the size of this monster.

One question regarding the figure. Are those collar tabs and shoulder tabs solid bordeaux ?
I would guess there would only be an outline in that color.

Cheers
Rob

Rob,

I don't know much about the Luftwaffe, I had to Google for some general information and photos of the uniforms in militaria sites. According to what I found, the shoulder-boards should have red stripes, as I tried to paint. The uniform is not the latest, it's the M40, so in Berlin 1945, they would probably be wearing the M43 but I decided to make this anyway because of the photos I was using for inspiration. The uniform should be bluer but the oil wash toned it down.

Super model Francisco, not only the gun, but also the fig and its projectile being more than great. I like everything here, but my favourite are the wooden ammo boxes...happy.gif

1. White 2. US Tan 874 Vallejo 3. Raw Umber oil wash

March 3 2010, 11:41 AM

Hey Stewart,

I did it like this:

1. Primed the resin boxes with Tamiya Flat White using an airbrush;
2. Painted them with Vallejo's 874 US Tan, slightly diluted so not let the white show through instead of getting a flat tan coloured box;
3. Gave them a couple of washes with raw umber oils diluted with Mig Thinner for Washes.
4. Painted the details with Vallejo's Beige Brown.

And that was it happy.gif

Thank you all for your kind words!

Francisco
