I put my Bedfords to one side for painting, but decided to attack some of the backlog before getting around to that - all the more green paint to spread around. I picked up the Matador conversion for the Matador half-track with Valentine chassis. All they give is two one-piece track units, and a comment that the idler goes at the back. Not unless I totally misunderstand the word, it doesn't.
I started out just asking how the drive went to the sprocket, but from the two photos I have available it seems that the track units were mounted on a lower subframe with extra springs. Does anyone have better information of the mechanics or do I have to wing it?
Clearly they don't hang off the side of the main chassis members in the same way. I think I'm going to have to sacrifice another Matador for parts: if I'd known this at the start I'd have begun with the Refueller chassis anyway.
