Hello all, long time reader for the most part, been living and working in Iraq for many years and very limited at time email/internet. Now back in the States and getting into my stuff in storage and planning on unloading a bunch of models, 76/72nd at the Nats if I am still here versus Afghanistan. I saw a recent topic on the Dragon Jeep and its scale etc. I have several of the Hogswell diecast with plastic Jeeps. My question is are they 76th or 72nd? I have a couple of the newer Heller/Airfix ones, which I understand are the standard in 72nd? But these Hogswell ones, while already "done", are very nice, so I am trying to decide if I should keep the Hogswells or the Heller/Airfix? I have too many of both, so want to thin it down before August Nats.
I am an old time modeler, so not really concerned with the 76/72nd scales, I just build now to suit myself when I can, but opinion wise, which ones would you keep?
While I generally like the Hongwell diecast Jeeps, the main problem I see with them is that the front grill is a sticker, so there is no depth to it, otherwise I think they are reasonable models. Oh, the paint scheme is too dark as well.
Thanks for the input, it is a great help. I have never taken one out of its package, didn't know it was a "phony" grill. I know there was complaints on the Airfix/Heller one because it had a molded on weight plate.
I think I will keep a couple of the green ones, but put the tans ones up for sale. As for different paint schemes like a follow me Jeep, will use the Airfix kits.
