lotto..

May 4 2012, 9:39 AM

Hello Oto and Filipe. I never won a lotto but started in 1980 when I was 11 years old. Always stayed with braille, one by one.
Shelves 11 to 22 to follow next week will deal with all non German and modern. Plan to give some statistics then too.

Thanks for the kind reactions, regards, Alfred

Amazing!!

May 4 2012, 10:22 AM

Hi Alfred,
truly amazing collection! My wife would go mad if I had that many! I've only been building seriously for 6 or 7 years so my collection is very modest.
Regards,

Steve

Amazing work Alfred! You have variants I didn't know existed, but then You are brave enough to scratchbuild and kitbash. I've never been good at it the few times I tried, so all my collection is OOB for the most part. That is brilliant work. I've been building small scale armor since I was nine, but I feel like you've surpassed me in numbers. Looks like I'll have to pick up the pace a bit to keep up with you! LOL!

Thanks for posting this. I'm eagerly awaiting shelves #11 to 22!

relativety

May 4 2012, 11:46 AM

Hello Mark, if we 'd form a wargame alliance we would together be a tough cookie to crack happy.gif
Any collection count is a relative matter...
About one hundred are 1/87 ROCO, about 50 are diecast ready models but all of those needed more or less fixing _up. At serveral meetings were my models were shown people came to me with braille collections and gave them to me...for free...!
They account for some 125. The best were put in my collection without altering but a lot are used for conversions, my last built the PzBefWg III K being a prime example. After that built I needed to withdraw one Pz IV F2 from the count as I used its turret but the chassis is leftover.... (I may slap a PAK 38 on it???)
Btw : between 1996 and 2004 only 11 kits were built....

Regards, Alfred

You got that right!

May 6 2012, 7:11 PM

We would be a tough nut to crack. So far nobody has tried to challenge me either.

Yeah I guess any collection count is all relative. However, when we were setting up my models outside to be counted and photographed for the Boresight magazine, I set out to only show and count those model kits I'd built myself. Therefore, my count from my huge Group Pic shows only those models that are 1/72 and 1/76 scale, and only models that I've built myself. I didn't include anything someone else built and gave to me (6 vehicles) or anything in diecast (1 vehicle) or anything ROCO in 1/87 scale (3 vehicles). I've only had a few people give me sets of unbuilt kits that they had and weren't going to build. Some of those were built and shown in the pic; others are still in my stash waiting to be built. I still have quite a few to go through, so I'll just have to keep building!

Looking forward to shelves 11-22!

Hey Alfred

great collection there - almost like a mini history or museum of braille scale models.
I noted the V1 and vehicle set in the first picture that dates back to the 70s never seen one except the box top on the web.

You and Mark Deliduka must have a common ancestor somewhere back in the family tree. with your penchant for these extraordinary collections.

cheers
Neil

Truly impressive....

May 4 2012, 6:40 PM

Hi Alfred,

I got back into braille modelling to take part in wargaming, but due to the 'butterfly' nature of most wargamers have been left high and dry with a collection of German tanks. However, after seeing your display cabinets I shall not get discouraged and will press on with my collection, it is a most impressive collection and a great inspiration for me. If I had been faithful to the Braille Scale medium I would have been modelling them since I was 14 (I began modelling with aircraft and moved to tanks later, I began modelling when I was 10) and it would be nice to imagine my collection would be like yours. Keep up the good work, it is truly impressive.

All the best,

Paul

Thanks to all of you

May 5 2012, 4:11 AM

Thanks everyone for the kind reactions. I will be happy to show the rest of the collection next week.

Some answers : the V 2 sets are one in 1/76 from Eidai and the other from Revell. From both kits I also own original boxed issues.
(For all those early kits and boxart please go to the site from Henkofholland. All my 250 and251 haltracks in there too.)

As noticed all are handpainted. I do not spray...a compromise to be accepted. Dioramas and figures also rare : no space and lack of skills..
To Mark : I strive to make as much different models and that is the reason for scratchbuilding and conversions.
For me the forfilment of making something different by own hand greatly outweighs the lacking of detail or size problems these models may have.
Just try it and feel the pleasure, you most certainly have the skills for it!

See yoy all 'round next week, regards, Alfred

wonderfull collection

May 5 2012, 4:54 PM

I wish I had stored my models as good as you did. Most of the earlier models are now in the "beyond repair status" and thrown in a box waiting to be used in a future scratch build project (which will be never happen, with the amount of un-build models I have)
