I travel to LA quite frequently and YES Pegasus Hobbies is worth it for a braille scale modeler. I must admit the last time I was at Pegasus was a year ago. Here is a picture I took of the braille scale aisle a few years back (still relevant):
Another store you MUST visit is Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove, CA. This store is about 30 minutes from Pegasus Hobbies. They are the gold standard I judge hobby stores by in the United States. The only stores that beat it in sheer number of model kits are the UML Stores in Hong Kong!
Brookhurst has a very complete selection of braille scale models and they often have discount for plastic models (which includes resin accessories in the store). Also, they have an extremely good selection of magazines and reference books.
Also, another store with a good braille scale selection is Military Hobbies in Orange, CA. About 15 minutes from Brookhurst Hobbies and about 30 minutes from Pegasus:
This store moved recently the last time I checked (early 2012). Again, they have a very good selection of braille stuff and reference books. They also have a good selection of MiG pigments and paints (kinda hard to find in the USA).
My comments above extends beyond braille stuff to 1/35 armor, planes, ships and more for ALL THREE of the stores. They are the "golden triangle" of hobby shops in Southern California.
