Need advice from the IV-experts

Hello guys,
After a few years of break from modelling I want to come back. I just want to finish a shelf queen or two, and I discovered also the Dicke Max in my stash. After searching the web for some after market iteems, I am a little confused and now need help from You my modellers friend.
I want to order the early PIV wheels and some tracks from OKB Grigorov. But whitch ones? On the pics of the prototype it seems that the vehicle had the smaller 38cm tracks, but in service it seems, that the tracks are wider? And which of the OKB sets have the hollowed teeth?
And one more question : is there a possibility to replace the gun barrel?
Thanks in advice,
Christian

Smaller tracks...

August 8 2017, 8:06 AM

Hello Christian,

I have looked through my references and it would appear that the Panzer Selbstfahrlafette IV had the 38cm track with open teeth. If you use google images with the title in the previous sentence you get a lot of images of the vehicle and it appears to have the early PzIVE sprocket (although there is one image with the later PzIVF sprocket, which would be for 40cm tracks) and this used 38cm track...

The one you need from OKB is...

https://shop.okbgrigorov.com/product/288/1-72-tracks-for-pz-iii-iv-38-cm.html

And the early wheels...

https://shop.okbgrigorov.com/product/538/1-72-wheels-for-pz-iv-ausf-a-d.html

I may be contradicted by other, more knowledgeable folk, but this is the result of my research, hope it helps.

All the best,

Paul
