Hi all,

As you will be aware, OKB is taking the plunged into making plastic kits, with their first offering to be the M24 Chaffee light tank. This is the blurb from Georgi on OKB's FB page:

"You ask when M24 will be available. Well the answer is NOW…as pre-order. The preorder campaign will be divided on several phases. Starting with the best discount we can offer and declining to the normal, but still high discount of the latest phases. a special edition is also available : the “Mammoth Edition”. In addition to the plastic part it include two PE detail sets, one with general detail on the hull and turret, another with side skirts. On Phase I we are offering 20% discount for the plastic part in both editions, and 50% (yes FIFTY per cent) for the PE parts in the special edition.
This Phase will run till 20.IX.2017, or until the dedicated number of sets is sold.
Enjoy."

Here are the respective links:

I have no doubt that OKBs quality in resin and PE will also be found in their plastic kits. Given this is OKB's first main plastic kit under their own brand (Georgi already has good experience designing plastic kits) we should all show our support for this manufacturer! So get busy buying.

As always, I have no financial involvement in OKB but I love their products and want to see them succeed, so we all get more new products that make our little AFVs look realistic!!!!!!!

Mammoth for me...

September 14 2017, 2:24 PM

I just ordered the Mammoth edition and will be looking forward to it arriving when it does. I shall now have to drag out my old Almark Modelworld magazines for the articles on Dien Bien Phu and the Chaffees used there, should be fun doing a diorama with Legionnaires and the tank.

Thanks for the 'heads up' Rob, certainly an exciting development.

All the best,

Paul

Lets hope he expands his range quickly... some softskin would be nice, British or German Cold War (I've got a whole load of conversions I could do on a Ford-Koln G398T)

Question to Georgi regarding M-18 & M-41

September 16 2017, 8:08 PM

Here is the question I posed to Georgi:
***********************************************************************************************

On another note, How about an M-18 Hellcat or a M-41 Walker Bulldog in 1:72nd scale. These have been on my "wish list" for over 40 years (yes, I am that old -- 64).

Thank you for bringing out a current state of the art M-24 Chaffee!!!!!!!
***********************************************************************************************
Here is is response:

As for M18 or/and M41 - M41 was our first choice, but some problems with the turret geometry appear, As you know the roof is with complex shape, and I was unable to find images or draws that show it clearly, to half way the project was frozen and we switch to M24. Depend of how well the current project will go we will decide what to do next. One of the options is to use the chassis part from M24 (extra tracks are put there for that purpose) to make M19, the other option is M18 which lead M41 because it take part in WW2.

Regards

Georgi
***************************************************************************************************
So...looks like a lot of post-WWII or late WWII light tanks/tank destroyer/AA tank in the works...

Loren

ps: What other tank versions use the basic M-24 chassis or M-41?

I know that the M-42 Duster used the M-41. Do we have SPGs using either of these two chassis? I haven't researched them - yet - but would be interested. Let's hear from our "experts"!!!!
