Gator Glue, what's up?

I recently got some Gator Glue, I must say that I have thus far been unimpressed w/ its performance. It just doesn't seem to securely fasten the p.e. parts to plastic. It seems to me that it doesn't hold much better than regular household white glue, it just sets up quicker. Could I be applying it wrong, or am I just expecting too much? I am applying it with a dry micro-brush in small amounts and sanding the back of the p.e. parts. I have given up on the stuff and gone back to using the Loc-tite gel (black and blue bottle). I will occasionally use the Gator Glue for engine grills where you need to cover a large area.
