Response to International shipping from the US

When I limit to US only it's mainly due to the fact that I don't want to wait in line at the local post office, nor fill out customs forms. Call is lazy if you will, I call it spending my time doing something better.

The problem I have is that usps.com and paypal don't offer automatic international shipping from their websites for first class - only priority mail or express mail. If it did, then I could just skip the lines and drop it off pre-paid like I do for US shipments. But even the international priority/express electronic printouts still require me to go to see someone at the post office since they have to put the forms in an envelope to stick onto the box (and some still postmark each page, regardless if it's printed already from usps/paypal). Back to wasting my time, not always worth the time.

Another issue with international is the lack of proof of delivery for first class packages (and sometimes priority/express as well). In the US delivery confirmation can be used on any service and saves the seller from the buyer claiming they never received a package (and the seller losing money by paypal because the buyer claims they didn't get it, when perhaps they really did.)

Also I like to take advantage of the free priority mail boxes provided by usps, they work great for kits. For international first class I can't do that, and then I have to go scrounging around for a plain box that fit the kit(s).

I'm a lot more hesitant for international selling because of the extra time/hassle dealing with packages and the possibility of getting ripped off.

Why some sellers post CONUS only I don't understand at all, HI and AK are treated the same as far as usps goes.

Steve
