Tow cable and winch cable source?

I am looking for a good cable source for both things like tow cables and winch cables. Some sort of fuzzless nylon cord (like Tamiya uses) would be great. I have tried looking in sewing and craft shops and find either cotton (fuzzy) threads or stuff that is not large enough in diameter. Pliable wire would work. I find picture hanging wire to be too coarse and frizzy, or too large in diameter. I have looked at fishing leader wire but it is too stiff to coil and drape realistically...

I know outfits like Eureka, SKP, Karaya etc sell pre cut wire cables, but those won't really work for a winch where I would need a longer run. So hopefully there is a material that can be purchased by the spool or reel?
