Response to Remember when

What was the US Dollar buying back then? Have you ever thought it is the devaluation of the US Dollar against most other currencies? Also the kits they were releasing then were generally pretty shabby. There were really cheap gems like the KV series but there were also what I believe to be collaborative projects with Japanese companies that were a lot more expensive. Just about all their German subjects tend to be more expensive than Modern and other genre subjects.
Personally I think the price they are asking for such a large and complex kit is pretty good. Considering what the cost of an 88 and large HT would be on their own.
It could also be your importer trying to increase or maintain his margins in a difficult market
I still believe that Trumpeter are excellent value for most subjects (at least they are here). They are certainly cheaper than Tamiya and DML here
Cheers
Al
