When the KV-1 kits were first released by Trumpeter, oil wasn't flirting at $100/barrel either, as well the US currency was in much better shape then as well.
Fast forward to 2012, the US dollar is in the dumps, and oil costs alot more, which just happens to be the main ingredient to styrene plastic, not to mention the truck the kits go on to get to the ship, the fuel the ship goes on across the Pacific, and then the truck the kits go on to get from the ship to the importer/distributor and then to your favorite LHS/Online store.
Fact of the matter, it just costs more to manufacture and bring the kit to market today, then it did when the KV-1 kits were first on the market.
Everything else has increased in price from cars to food, to other forms of entertainment....why should our hobby be any different, especially when it relies heavily on oil for many aspects, and thus is directly effected by the cost of it. |
