Response to Back in the day....

I have always had phenomenal service from HLJ, with similar blazing delivery times. I have used both EMS and Fedex. Strangely, the price of Fedex has now dipped below that of EMS--at least at HLJ. They are the only overseas vendor that I know of that offers that service.

My all time record is shared by two vendors. The first is Miniature Park in Tokyo. An order sent via their website on Friday showed up on Monday (still trying to figure that out). Ditto on an order from TL Decals in Germany. Both were EMS, or "Luftpost" in the case of TL.

It is surprising that many foreign vendors are trumping delivery times from U.S. companies. No one appears to be making a big deal of this, but it has a weird kind of equalizing affect on me. The planet seems a wee bit smaller as a result!

For reasons I can't fully explain and would probably be embarrassed to do, I can't really bring myself to order from any of the Chinese mail order houses. My therapist and I are working on it.

Using surface mail from anywhere is asking for trouble. It can't be tracked and once it's gone, it might as well be invisible. The USPS doesn't really seem to even support it anymore.

I've noticed that Sprue Bros and a few other domestic vendors are fully behind USPS Priority Mail. This is wicked fast in the U.S. and even includes a foreign option. We use it for everything here at Ampersand, FYI.
