Gator Glue, what's up?

I recently got some Gator Glue, I must say that I have thus far been unimpressed w/ its performance. It just doesn't seem to securely fasten the p.e. parts to plastic. It seems to me that it doesn't hold much better than regular household white glue, it just sets up quicker. Could I be applying it wrong, or am I just expecting too much? I am applying it with a dry micro-brush in small amounts and sanding the back of the p.e. parts. I have given up on the stuff and gone back to using the Loc-tite gel (black and blue bottle). I will occasionally use the Gator Glue for engine grills where you need to cover a large area.

The first time I tried it I had the same results. Turns out I had a bad bottle. I tried some from a second bottle I had and it worked as advertised. Why not try contacting them and letting them know what you've experienced?

excellent stuff

I like it very much. To me it is much tacker than just Elmers white glue, which isnt even great on paper.

There was some discussion here or on Hyperscale that people oordering it in the winter months might have had their bottles frozen in the mail/mail box and that will negate its properties when it thaws out.

very satisfied customer

I did not have the problem of mine freezing , but Canadian friends did.
The owner made things right with them quickly.

I have to say that Gator glue is to etch-to-plastic joins what soldering is for etch-to-etch.

It marks a quantum leap forward in my use of etch, like switching away from tube glue, using an airbrush, or an etch-folding tool.

Not that impressed either...

I think my expectations where set high by other users of the product, but to me it seems to be just an Acrylic paste/gel medium to attach PE parts with. It has its uses, but I still like Super Glue as my primary glue for PE.

perhaps it is the expectation?

I bought it becuase it was (and is for me) a tacky, fast drying water-based glue that has some give (i e it is rubbery) and you can move parts around a bit. I used it quite a lot to apply big p-e zimmerit panels, which you can't glue with CA glue at all. And for that it worked great. It was also good for attaching some small pe that required positioning. I found the slight rubberyness good if you bump a part it gives and does not pop off. It isn't intended to be something like epoxy...

Its not super expensive. Probably some people liek it and some don't I suppose.
