Really now, if the Pakis had let the Chinese PLA examine the tail surreptitiously, do you think the PLA would pass on the info to a model company (within a month, no less!) so as to let the world know what they had?
Or thereabouts. A Soviet pilot defected flying a MiG-25 out of Siberia and landing in Japan. Before any government's (ours, Japan, anyone elses) tech intell people got there, a team of Hasegawa engineers and designers showed up with cameras and drawing boards.

Testor's F-19 from the 1980's

Something similar happened back in the 1980's. Testors made up a fictional stealth fighter they called the F-19 and caused a media sensation. I read somewhere the FBI visited Testors' offices and there was even discussion in the Senate how one of the country's most-closely guarded secrets could have ended up as a "toy".
