Videos going up!

June 26 2011, 11:21 AM

Guys,

I'm in the process of uploading videos. Challenger 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0Qzu8gSL_U) and Tortoise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK1areJasT0) are up already, with more being worked on. To find them, go to the Youtube web site and do a search for my username: okievit

You'll find older videos from Bovington and Duxford as well.

Enjoy,

Olaf

Who knew

June 26 2011, 12:44 PM

I would have never guessed the Tortise was a runner.

A US veteran is someone who, at one point, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including their life.'

Tortoise!

Great photo. Like Shawn, I would never have guessed it was a runner.
How many engines does it have?

Are the coupling type devices on the front for a tow-bar?

Surprisingly mobile for its weight. I imagined it crawling along

Re: Who knew

June 27 2011, 3:03 AM

I went on Saturday and the Tortoise only did one run past due to reliability worries.

All the vehicles were parked up afterwards to let people get a close look and I asked a young lad who was crewing the Tortoise about the issues. He told me they had given the vehicle a check over in the workshops and replaced various perished hoses and basically serviced it and it then ran. Then just before the event while running it ( possibly the day before) a metal pipe to the bottom of a radiator fractured, normally the radiators would unbolt and swing to allow access but were seized in place so they spent 16 hours effecting a 'temporary' repair but were not sure how long it would last.

So thanks to them and their hard work because it was a very impressive sight and I suppose with more time will be repaired properly and we can see it run at future events
