I've heard from several folks that the Central Virginia chapter of AMPS has a satellite club based out of Quantico. Rumor has it Pat Mooney has something to do with it. I'm a member of Washington Armor Club, but was looking for something closer to my home. Anybody have more info??

MAGTF AMPS

May 20 2012, 10:57 PM

Howdy Jeff, I believe the group is MAGFT AMPS and they meet monthly at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Pat should see our posts and shall chime in when he does. I could not find mention of the group on the AMPS web site.
Outta here, Mike sends . . .

AMPS Central Vriginia

May 21 2012, 1:09 AM

Jeff,

Pat Mooney and Dave Vickers are the northern branch members of the AMPS Central Virginia Chapter. They attend our meetings and functions when they can. AMPS Central Virginia Chapter meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the Smoketree Community Center in Midlothian Virginia. Our meetings start at 1830. Coming to Richmond may not be any shorter trip than the Washington Armor Club meetings. Please drop me an e-mail at [email protected] for more information.

MAGTF Modelers, CVAMPS and the "Huns from the North"

May 21 2012, 9:06 PM

Hey Jeff,

I knew my ears were burning for a reason! Both "The Brother Mikes'" are correct...we meet at the National Museum of the Marine Corps and are indeed the Northern most bastion of CVAMPS, but have been on hiatus for awhile. We are mostly AMPS members, a bunch of Jarheads with Squids and Doggies to keep us honest, and a good bunch of civilians all united by a passion for things that clank and boom. We have some figure guys mixed in - and we're slowly coverting them away from the "Dark Side" toward the Light!!! We have a lot of fun, talk about Tanks and history and help each other out in the hobby.

We were discussing "kicking the tires and lighting the fires" on this puppy again. We used to meet the 4th Wednesday of each month at the museum. PM me and I'll give you all the details as we get things rolling again.

Semper Fidelis,

Pat Mooney
