There were some really great models all around! I was surprised at some of the models I didn't see. I do not believe a single M109 was in attendance. The armor pictures are here....

Hi there Frank, miss you guys.

The show was great if you were a contestant or visitor. The quaility of the armor models was not AMPS International quality, but they were a lot of good one's. The vendors did not do too well, most of the vendors who were not selling off collections "cheap" did not do well and did not even cover their costs or break even.
I totally agree with Jose. I heard alot of people, not only at my table, but others whisper, "wow, thats high" even though the price was well below retail, even approaching breaking even. I had a 1/72 S-100 marked to $12 and the guy wanted it for $10 ,when I said no, he didnt want it..geez..but hey, the ZM guys did well, nearly sold out completely for at or above $100 a kit!

model quality

I'd like to qualify the comment from Mr. Rodriguez. A number of the armor entries were of high (AMPS) quality. There were many that were not. Overall, I felt the quantity of quality pieces was down from the last Nats in Omaha. I don't know why that was unless the high cost of playing in the Mouse House had something to do with it. The main reason I go to the IPMS Nats is to see old friends, meet new friends, spend money in the vendor room, see lots of well done models and, perhaps, take home an award.

Armor quality at Nats
August 21 2012, 8:31 PM
I'll second Mark's comment that the level and quality of the armor entries at Nats was excellent and on par with what I've seen at AMPS events. You have to keep in mind that the show was not limited to armor, so what was represented was admirable and a credit to the builder's skills. This was my first Nats and it was enjoyable. I put my models on the table in the categories I thought they represented and let the judges make the final decision. It all worked out well.
