Here are some pics of a figure I made. It will eventualy be sitting on the engine deck of an M4A1 (75mm) from the US 603rd TB.
Papua's were aiding both American and Commonwealth forces during the fighting on New-Guinea.

The figure earned a bronze medal at Scale Model Challenge in Eindhoven, Holland in october.

Hi Marc,

How you been? Great project and well done on the award, well deserved. Fitting someone should model one of these brave guys. Saw a documentary last year about how these guys would walk for so many miles through the jungles with wounded Allied soldiers on their backs......the base fits perfect too!
Looking forward to seeing the Sherman addition.....
Glen

Thanks Glen,

Doing well,

I got interested in this theatre after noticing that a few M4A1 images in the "Sherman in action" book were taken in former Dutch New-Guinea.

Started reading up on it and it bit me so to say. (Seems Mc Arthur almost destroyed his own career, when misjudging the New-Guinea campaign.) Interesting stuff, even if not much choice in armor...

best regards,

Marc Brandes
