Scaning through the Vintage Photos thread on the G503's website (very interesting photos to be found), I cam across a picture, probably taken in Normandy, that shows a GI's looking over a captured Kubelwagen.

What caught my attention is the fact that the soldier on the left appears to be a vehicle crewman (with tanker's helmet), but he's wearing the kind of camo fatigues issued to troops of 41st Armored Infantry Rgt. before Operation Cobra.

The picture appears about halfway down this page:

And another one

Found another one:

This one is a dispatch rider, but since he's wearing a leather "flyer's" style helmet, I wouldn't assume the previous one with the tanker's helmet is a rider as well.

Cheers!

These cammo uniforms were rapidly phased out from

the Normandy front as they too closely resembled the WaffenSS uniforms. Too many trigger happy GIs were firing on their own people.
The American army had a big problem with identifying enemy uniforms and equipment,or,friendly uniforms and equipment,a problem that continues to this day.I had a big problem getting my troops to learn any opfor equipment ID.
