I don't know how I've managed to end up on this board because I post on the "ttc over 40 with high FSH". However, by some errant click of the mouse I've ended up here and I can answer your question. If you have had regular AF before this point, there may be many reasons why you would have an odd cycle. However, given that you are 43, it would not be surprising if you are entering the peri - menopause, the 10 years or so before women typically have their last period and so enter the menopause. The length of time going through the peri - menopause is very variable but it is characterised by fluctuating hormones and erratic cycles. People can have one odd cycle and then have normal cycles for a while because ovulation is becoming less regular. As you approach the menopause (which you would be approaching in a normal way) cycles may get increasingly erratic and can be very heavy, or very light. A book I've found helpful is "What your doctor may NOT tell you about the perimenopause" by Dr Lee. I would have thought that parenting school age children can be very tiring and intense, though wonderful, so it would probably be wise to become aware of how your hormones might be fluctuating and what you can do to keep them on an even keel. Hope that helps. Mx |
