Houston, TX You can put your vote where it will do the most good by voting for your favorite childrens picture book story in the 3rd Annual ABCs Childrens Picture Book Competition. The winner of the competitions internet vote will walk away with a publishing contract.
This competition is meant to find a childrens story that is a diamond in the rough and turn it into a gem that becomes a best seller, said Rita Mills, of The Book Connection who is the corporate sponsor of The ABCs. "Each story has a team effort in the form of an author and an illustrator who work together to solicit votes for their story. The little stories are delightful and the art that accompanies them will help to give the voters a visual about how the story will look when it is put into childrens book format, she added.
The competition has author finalists and illustrators from 14 different states and 2 foreign countries.
The first winner published, Dont Eat the Bluebonnets, was written by Ellen Leventhal and Ellen Rothberg and illustrated by Bill Megenhardt, all from the metropolitan Houston, Texas area. Dont Eat the Bluebonnets is being made into a play that will be tour the state of Texas in 2008 with the Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center.
