From MEN:-
'Bruce has also held talks with Austrian international Paul Scharner, telling him he fully intended to play him not as a midfielder but in his more familiar role as a centre-half.
Bruce said: "I tried to sign Scharner when I was at Birmingham as a centre-back. That is his position, in my view, and players have got to do it my way.
"I watched him play there for his country and I also saw him in Bergen. I was disappointed when I missed out on him but, credit to Wigan, Dave Whelan came up with the cash and they nicked him."'
Good move IMO, we need a leader in defence, and this more discilpined role should help Sharner from going walkabouts. | |
