Tissot Ambassador Nicky Hayden Earns First MotoGP World Championship

Swiss watch brand Tissot is proud to announce Nicky Hayden as the new 2006 MotoGP World Champion. Hayden completed his fourth full season with 10 podium appearances and 252 overall points, earning him the overall title as MotoGP World Champion.

Nicky Hayden signed an official agreement with the Swiss watch-making brand in November 2005 and became the companys first U.S. male sports ambassador. Tissot has been the Official Timekeeper of the MotoGP for the last six years, as well as providing the official MotoGP watch for the championship. Tissot will run congratulatory advertisements in national newspapers in key markets around the world, including the U.S., China, France, Switzerland, Germany, Singapore and Spain.
In 2006, Tissot launched a dedicated limited edition Nicky Hayden watch in orange and black, with Motorcycle design details and his number 69 engraved on the case back that has almost sold out globally in less than six months. For 2007, Tissot plans to launch a new limited edition World Champion watch for Nicky Hayden and his fans worldwide.
Known as the Kentucky Kid, Nicky Hayden is only 25 years of age but has made a name for himself in the sport as a top competitor. In 2003, Hayden earned Rookie of the Year honors in his first MotoGP season and in 2005 he finished third place overall in the world. Hayden has been riding professionally since he was 16 and entered his first competition at the young age of four. Hayden was the youngest ever to win of both the U.S. Supersport and Superbike competitions.
