Antiquorum December Sale Offers Many Exquisite Timepieces in New Premises on Madison Avenue


Over three hundred superior timepieces will be offered in Antiquorum’s December 6th sale. All major watch brands will be well represented in the auction, some of which will be offered at no reserve. This sale of Important Collectors’ Wristwatches, Pocket Watches, & Clocks will be the first auction to be held at Antiquorum’s new auction venue in the heart of Manhattan at the Fuller Building on 595 Madison Avenue and 57th Street. Now Antiquorum clients can enjoy previewing and bidding on timepieces in Antiquorum’s very own private and exclusive New York location. Previews of this exceptional collection will take place in Hong Kong, Beverly Hills, and New York City.

For the Audemars Piguet collector, there will be a “Jules Audemars-Grande Complication Automatique” made circa 2005. It is an extremely fine and rare, large, minute-repeating, astronomic, self-winding, platinum gentleman's wristwatch with co-axial round button split-seconds chronograph, register, perpetual calendar with indication of the weeks and moon phases. Estimate:$350,000- 400,000.

In addition there will be an extraordinary Audemars Piguet “Cabinet Watch 2”, “Jules-Audemars – Tourbillon Repetition Minutes Quantieme Perpetuel”, which was made in a limited edition of only 20 pieces circa 2000, the second watch in the “Tradition of Excellence” cabinet series. This timepiece is an extremely fine and rare, large, minute-repeating, platinum gentleman’s wristwatch with visible one-minute tourbillon regulator and perpetual calendar. Estimate: $300,000 -350,000

The FP Journe enthusiast can look forward to bidding on the “Invenit et Fecit”, “Set of 5 complicated limited edition watches”, each made in only 99 pieces. All pieces are numbered 13/99.Estimate: $ 260,000- 300,000. The set includes: “Remontoir d’Egalite-Tourbillon Souverain”, "Chronomètre à Résonance, "Octa Chronograph, "Octa Reserve de Marche" - “Jour et Nuit” and "Octa Calendrier".

For the Patek Philippe aficionado, we will have a Ref. 1436 made in circa 1955. It is an extremely fine and rare, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with square button, co-axial split-seconds chronograph, 30-minute register and tachometer. This fine timepiece is from the property of the original owner. Estimate: $ 180,000 – 220,000.

Futhermore, there will be a Patek Philippe Ref. 3450, Yellow Gold “Roman Leap Year”, third series in the sale made in 1986.It is a very fine and rare, astronomic, self-winding, gentleman's wristwatch with perpetual calendar, moon phases, and Roman numerals for the leap year indication. Estimate: $160,000 – 200,000.

Also of interest for the Patek enthusiast, is the Ref. 3448 “Second Series” sold on Dec. 27, 1969. It is a very rare and very fine, astronomic, self-winding, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with perpetual calendar and moon phases. Estimate: $ 80,000 – 120,000.

In the December auction, four exceptional Patek Philippe Ref. 5050’s will be for sale in pink gold, yellow gold and in platinum.Production of this reference started in 1995 and ceased in 2003. Estimate: Range from $50,000 – 140,000.

A last highlight included in this sale is the Patek Philippe Ref. 3970 . It is a very fine and rare, astronomic, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with round button chronograph, register, perpetual calendar, and moon phases. Estimate: $ 70,000 – 90,000.

Online catalogue – The catalogue for this auction will be posted online at www.antiquorum.com two weeks prior to the sale. New and returning clients may register for online bidding at that time. After receiving a paddle and a pin number , clients have the option of placing absentee bids directly on the site, or bidding interactively on auction day. For those collectors, who are simply interested in following the auction as it progresses, a live internet broadcast will take place on the same site, for which no registration is required. Sale results for the traditional auction will be posted online after the sale.
