On Friday, July 21st, the magnificent city of Montreux will don its finest red raiment to relive the first Montreux Grand Prix, held on the shores of Lake Geneva in 1934. Following on from retrospectives in 1977, 1984, 1990 and 2002, this latest event offers a modern-day reconstruction of the original race. With Ferrari on board as an official partner, spectators will be treated to an exclusive event involving some two hundred legendary cars built between 1928 and 2005, lent even greater appeal by a number of F1 racecars. The highlight of the weekend will be Sunday's parade, when around one hundred sports cars will stretch along the Grand-Rue and the lakeshore, following a course similar to the 2002 circuit - the procession down from Les Hauts de Caux promises a thrilling experience. As co-sponsor of the Montreux Grand Prix, Audemars Piguet has created an exclusive limited-edition series in honour of the event: the Royal Oak - Montreux Grand Prix 2006 chronograph.

Reflecting the unparalleled expertise of renowned Audemars Piguet master watchmakers, the Royal Oak - Montreux Grand Prix 2006 chronograph perfectly embodies the eminent alliance between the prestigious worlds of motor racing and fine watchmaking.

A luxury sports watch par excellence, the Royal Oak is to watchmaking what Ferrari is to motor racing, symbolising expertise and tradition, values shared by both companies. Georges-Henri Meylan, Managing Director of Audemars Piguet & Cie: "We are proud to lend our name to such a prestigious event, rich in history and emotion. Founded in 1875, our company is acutely aware of the importance of tradition. Dedicating a chronograph to the Montreux Grand Prix is our way of paying tribute to the Ferrari legend."

Only 25 stainless steel Royal Oak - Montreux Grand Prix 2006 chronographs will be made. The dark blue dial will be traditionally ornamented with guilloche, including an exclusive "Grande Tapisserie" design. In addition to the luminescent hands, the watch includes three smaller dials whose bright yellow hands pay homage to the prancing horse shield. The second hand is also yellow, further confirming the watch's sporting pedigree.

Rendezvous on the shores of Lake Geneva for all fans of fine engineering from July 21st to 23rd.
