i have a disc read error, from dropping the ps2. now, I am pretty sure that the error would be due to something becoming dislodged, as the impact of the fall is not going to suddenly make the lens dirty. right? so, I have cracked it open and looked at the bottom and front inside of the machine. the lens area and track SEEM ok, but I dont have a point of reference. anyway the thing still not workin, can someone just run down the best ways to find the problem? (aside from just calling it quits)

Try these instr.

This site has some simple cleaniong and adjusting instructions. I did the cleaning to no avail, called Sony at their 1-800 number, they were easy going and said to send it in, fee waived for a free repair and a new 90 day warranty.

that faq requires you to oen your ps2, thus voiding the warranty. i don't know how sony still agreed to repair ur ps2 for free even after you opened it, much less give u a 90-day warranty.

yeah, I have had mine since they came out, I am pretty sure that coupled with the sticker being gone now loses me any chance of sending it in. I will just keep tryin to fix it. I think Ill try that voltage adjustment thing, dropping it must have messed up those screws maybe?

u could try that too. but my bet is if it fell down, there may be some parts that are out of alignment. remember, the ps2 lens is a very sensistive piece of hardware. since u dropped ur ps2, the lens alignment may be off. in that case, i don't think the faqs we have can help you with it. trying going to a repair shop. but in any case, it probly won't do much damage if you try to fix it urself.
