My PS2 had the problem of a DRE. I read a bunch of things on how to fix it, so i took it apart cleaned the laser eye and put it back together. I get a "No data" message where the DRE was. Yes the laser eye does blink red when restarted and the disk spins for a tiny second. I have gone and moved the wheel to every position and didnt work and i moved the silver screw but still no such luck. please help i am PS2 deprived. Ohh yeah i move the laser back and forth manually and it spins the disk for a bit.
Oh man I got the exact same problem. I was fixing a DRE, which I've always done when the PS2 is out of line(and it works). But the difference is that my ribbon cable came off during the cleaning and I had a hell of a time trying to find out where to put the darn thing. I don't know, maybe during that little fiasco I somehow messed the system up. I know it aint the laser though.
