ps2 video problem

My ps2 won't show up on the tv screen, but there is sound. I think the audio/video plug on the back is damaged because it is slightly bent and does not hold the cable tightly. What can I do to fix this? Is there an easy fix or do I need a new part and if so, what part do I need?

Maybe I can help

August 5 2005, 7:42 PM

With my ps2, I did fix this problem. By chance, I tried plugging in the ps2 using my other audio/video cable (a multi-unit cable that had plugs for ps2, xbox, gamecube, etc) and it worked. I think that the cable I had was defective for some reason. The only other changes I made to the unit were to remove the cover and clean the lense...and then also I removed the plastic piece on the audio/video plug on the back of my ps2 (hopeing that it would improve the connection). I doubt that those things made much of a difference though. My best advice would be to try a different cable, or maybe try and clean the plug on the back. Looks can be decieving though, because my cable looked perfectly fine and yet it didnt work. Hope this helps. -Gavin
